Today, the European Union Delegation welcomes the EU Special Representative for Human Rights, Kajsa Ollongren, to Nairobi for a three-day visit focused on dialogue and engagement on human rights issues. This marks her first official visit to Sub-Saharan Africa since assuming the role.

The decision to begin her regional engagements in Kenya underscores the importance of human rights within the EU–Kenya partnership. During her visit, Ms. Ollongren will meet with government representatives, civil society actors, human rights defenders, and international partners to discuss shared priorities, challenges, and opportunities for cooperation.

The visit reaffirms the European Union’s commitment to promoting and protecting human rights, democratic values, and the rule of law, and highlights Kenya’s key role as a partner in advancing these principles at national, regional, and international levels.

On hand to receive her was the EU Ambassador to Kenya Henriette Geiger.
