The government is ramping up investment in higher education as part of efforts to better prepare young people to contribute to the country’s growth and development.

During a visit to Garissa University, the President laid the foundation stone for a new KSh279 million modern tuition block. The facility is expected to provide improved learning spaces and support the university’s expanding academic programmes.
To further support students, the government is also investing KSh750 million in the construction of new hostels at the institution. Once complete, the hostels will accommodate more than 1,700 students, easing the housing shortage and improving campus life.
While in Garissa, the President also toured the ongoing Garissa Township Affordable Housing Project, highlighting the government’s broader push to expand access to decent and affordable homes.
The projects reflect the administration’s continued focus on strengthening education and housing as key drivers of opportunity and national progress.
